Traveling to Uganda is easier than ever! The Ugandan government has simplified entry procedures to welcome visitors from all over the world.

East African Citizens


  • Citizens of Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, South Sudan, and Burundi can enter Uganda visa-free for tourism, business, or family visits, thanks  to regional agreements under the East African Community (EAC).
  • Stay duration: up to 90 days without a visa.
  • Travel document: a valid national ID or passport is accepted for EAC citizens.

African Nationals


  • Citizens of several African countries can obtain a visa on arrival or apply online before traveling.
  • Visa type: Single-entry tourist visa (USD 50)
  • Validity: 90 days

Some African nationals are exempt — check the latest list on the official immigration website.
For African travelers, Uganda also participates in regional mobility initiatives, making travel within Africa smoother and more affordable.

Travelers from Europe, America, Asia, and the Middle East must apply for a tourist e-visa before arrival.

Processing time: usually 2–3 business days
Fee: USD 50 for a single-entry visa
 
Documents required: passport valid for at least 6 months, recent photo, and a return ticket or travel itinerary.
 

East African Tourist Visa


  • For those who wish to explore the region, Uganda also offers the East African Tourist Visa, which allows multiple entry to Uganda, Kenya, and Rwanda with just one visa.
  • Cost: USD 100
  • Validity: 90 days
  • Apply in any of the three countries (first point of entry)
